Operation Geaux has officially begun its second joint replacement mission trip to Kathmandu, Nepal.

This journey is only possible through the generosity, partnership, and prayerful support of so many. We are deeply grateful to Calvary Baptist Church, Commission International, Total Joint Orthopedics, Stryker Instruments, Ethicon, DXI Solutions, Sanara MedTech, Christus Central Louisiana Surgical Hospital, Rapides Regional Medical Center, CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, Mid State Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center, 3 Nails Catering, our dedicated Nepali physician partners and hospital staff, the families of our team members, and the incredibly supportive Alexandria, Louisiana community.

Our Team

    •    Orthopaedic Surgeon / Team Lead – Tim Randell, MD

    •    Anesthesia – Jason Rolfe, MD

    •    Nurse Practitioner – James Thomas, FNP

    •    CRNA – Cole Rutherford, CRNA

    •    Physician Assistant – Marc Carbo, PA-C

    •    Nursing Team – Lacey Simmering, Jason DeBusk, Kalli Crutchfield, Sinae Baek

    •    Surgical Technologists – Hailey Prewitt, British Foster

    •    Implant Representative – Jose Patino

    •    Media – Jon Cowart

We departed Alexandria, Louisiana at 6:55 PM on April 16th and arrived safely at our mission house at 1:15 AM on April 19th after nearly two full days of travel.

Along the way, we had a 14-hour layover in Hong Kong, which provided an unexpected opportunity for team bonding. We were able to explore the city, navigate public transportation, and enjoy dim sum together. It was a meaningful time to connect as a team before beginning the work ahead. Special thanks to Cole Rutherford for coordinating and planning this portion of the trip.

All flights and transitions went smoothly, though we did encounter challenges navigating customs with our donated medical equipment and supplies. After reaching out to our prayer supporters, we were able to successfully clear everything. Through this experience, we also identified a more efficient and secure process for future trips.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” — Romans 8:28

After arriving at the mission house, the team settled in, rested, and prepared for the work ahead.

Tomorrow begins the mission in earnest. We will head to the hospital to begin surgical preparation and evaluate patients for operative care.

The journey is underway, and we are grateful for the opportunity to serve.
